The Accelerator is a week-long explosive programme, bringing two South African curators to London for a focused, rapid immersion into the city’s art world. The programme was piloted in October 2023 by international project lead Katherine Schaefer, with A4 curators Mitchell Gilbert Messina and Khanya Mashabela as the first candidates. Together, they visited some of the UK’s leading art institutions and galleries, meeting artists, curators, and museum and gallery directors.
The programme’s objective is to facilitate dialogue between arts workers across geographic regions, stimulating the respective arts ecologies by encouraging their navigation of alternate frameworks. – February 26, 2024
